Gavin Morris Named Summer 2026 Delta-V Capstone Award Winner

Spacebourne is proud to announce that Gavin Morris has been selected as the recipient of the Summer 2026 Delta-V Capstone Award. The award is given each term to the Delta-V Scholar whose work best reflects the rigor, initiative, and forward-looking thinking that define Spacebourne's mission of making Earth just one chapter in the story of humankind.

Gavin joined the Delta-V program drawn by the opportunity to contribute to CLARITY (Cognitive Link Analytics for RF Interference TrajectorY), Spacebourne's foundational AI engine for predicting radio frequency interference for satellite operators and ground station networks. As low Earth orbit grows more crowded, the ability to anticipate interference before it disrupts a critical link is becoming essential infrastructure for the space economy. Gavin brought a builder's mindset and a strong software engineering foundation to that challenge.

"I was drawn to Spacebourne because of the unique and innovative projects the company is working on," Gavin said. "I had never been part of an organization tackling something quite like this, and CLARITY immediately caught my attention. I was extremely excited and honored to be selected for the program and to have the opportunity to contribute to such an incredible team alongside Ms. Khali and Dr. Gonzalez."

A Foundation Built on Leadership

Gavin graduated in 2023 from Brother Martin High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he received a leadership award every year of his enrollment. The honor recognizes students who demonstrate strong leadership qualities and serve as positive examples within the school community, and it speaks to the consistency of character that Gavin has carried into every role since.

Engineering Experience Beyond His Years

Before joining Delta-V, Gavin had already built a substantial track record in professional software development. He served as a Software Developer Intern at Louisiana State University's Center for Analytics and Research in Transportation Safety, and as a Software Engineer Intern at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, gaining experience in both public research and enterprise environments.

He is also an entrepreneur in his own right. Gavin owns Deltara Tech, an LLC through which he develops custom software solutions for businesses looking to streamline their operations and improve the services they deliver to customers.

Research and Current Work

Today, Gavin serves as a research assistant to Dr. Mills at Louisiana State University, contributing to research within the ATHENA Lab. Alongside his research, he has pursued several AI-focused projects that have expanded his technical skills and deepened his understanding of one of the fastest-moving fields in technology.

From New Orleans Roots to the Frontier of Technology

A New Orleans native, Gavin has always had music at the center of his life. He plays guitar in his free time and, whenever he returns home, joins his family's band on stage. His path into technology began during his freshman year of high school, when he was first introduced to coding. That early spark grew into a passion for computer science and set him on the career path he is pursuing today.
